The Ashford dyes are very easy to use and the colours are clear and bright. They are weak acid dyes so white vinegar can be used to fix the dyes making them suitable for the home dyer. The dyes are for wool, silk and other animal (protein) fibres and are fully concentrated with only 10gm (¼oz) dyeing 1kg (2.2lbs) of fibre or yarns.
There are 12 colours that have been carefully selected for compatibility and when mixed will produce a wide range of hues.

Dyes require white vinegar as the mordant and heat to set (microwave, stove-top or steam). To make the dye solution: dissolve 10gm dye powder in a little hot water. Once dissolved add enough cold water to bring the solution to 850mls. Add 150mls white vinegar. This makes a 1% dye solution that will dye 1kg of fibre, yarn or fabric.

Colours may vary. Different fibres\yarns do not always dye the same colour. Dyeing technique, mordants and water can cause variation. Monitors display colours differently.

The dyes are safe and easy to use and comply with Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

Please wear a mask and gloves when mixing the powder, and gloves when in liquid form. Use dedicated utensils - not eating cutlery.
